How we chose: I shortlisted smart scales from the brands UK buyers most often compare, including Withings, Garmin, eufy, Renpho, Tanita, Salter and Fitbit, from budget Bluetooth scales to 8-electrode models with a handle. For each one I checked the manufacturer's UK product page, manual or listing for what it measures, how many users it supports, how it connects and which apps it syncs with. On 24 October 2026 I reopened every Amazon.co.uk listing with a UK delivery postcode to check it was in stock with an add-to-basket button, and noted who sells it. I don't show prices, because they change daily. I haven't tested these scales myself. These products have not been tested hands-on; this is a research-based roundup. How the research works.
A smart scale weighs you like any bathroom scale, then sends the reading to an app so you can see trends over weeks and months rather than one number on one day. Most also estimate body composition, such as body fat, muscle and water, using bioelectrical impedance: a small, painless current passed through your bare feet (and hands, on models with a handle).
Those body composition figures are estimates. They can change with how much you've had to drink, the time of day and when you last exercised, and different brands can give quite different numbers for the same person. Weight readings are reliable for home use; the other figures are most useful for spotting a trend on the same scale over time.
The app matters as much as the scale. If you already use Garmin Connect, Apple Health, Google Health Connect, Samsung Health or Fitbit, pick a scale that syncs with it. Setting one up before New Year means it's ready for any January fitness routine.
Who this guide is for: Anyone who wants to log weight and body composition alongside their steps, workouts and sleep, families who want one scale for everyone, and runners, cyclists and gym-goers using Garmin, Apple or Samsung apps. These are consumer products, not medical devices.
Black Friday tip: Smart scales are often reduced on Black Friday and again in the January sales. Note today's price and check the price history before you buy, and make sure the model code matches: several brands sell near-identical scales under different names. Our Black Friday deals page explains how to check a deal.

- Apple Health: Withings, eufy, Renpho.
- Google Fit / Health Connect: Withings, eufy, Renpho (Elis 1).
- Samsung Health: Renpho.
- Fitbit: eufy P2 Pro and Renpho Elis 1 sync to a Fitbit account.
- Garmin Connect: Garmin Index S2.
- Own apps: Tanita (MyTANITA) and Salter (Salter Health). Check each app's sync options before you buy.
Fitbit's own Aria Air scale had no add-to-basket button on Amazon.co.uk when I checked on 24 October 2026, so it's not in the list. If you use Fitbit, the eufy P2 Pro or Renpho Elis 1 can send readings to your Fitbit account instead.
Weight readings are accurate enough for home use on all of these. Body fat, muscle and water figures are estimates from bioelectrical impedance and can vary by several percentage points from day to day and between brands. To get consistent readings:
- Weigh at the same time each day, ideally in the morning before eating or drinking.
- Stand barefoot on a hard, level floor, not carpet (some scales include carpet feet).
- Avoid weighing straight after exercise, a shower or a large drink.
- Look at the weekly trend in the app rather than any single reading.
Scales with hand and foot electrodes, like the Renpho MorphoScan, measure through more of your body, but they're still estimates rather than clinical measurements.
Manufacturers advise against using body composition features if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical device, and some also advise against them during pregnancy. Check the safety section of the manual before you use one. These scales aren't medical devices, so speak to your GP about any health concern.
Wi-Fi scales (Withings Body Smart, Garmin Index S2, eufy P2 Pro) upload readings automatically, even if your phone is in another room. Bluetooth scales (eufy C20, Renpho, Tanita, Salter) sync when you open the app nearby, and some store readings until then. Bluetooth is fine if you always have your phone with you; Wi-Fi suits families sharing one scale.
If you're planning new fitness routines in the new year, set the scale up before then: create a profile for each person, connect the app you use, and decide whether you want the number on screen at all. Withings and eufy both have modes that keep the display simple. A smart scale can be a thoughtful present for someone who has asked for one, but it isn't a gift to give as a hint. For more ideas, see our Christmas gift guide.
Withings also makes the Body, which measures weight and BMI only, and pricier models with extra heart and vascular features that go beyond body composition, so they're not covered here. Tanita's BC-545N is a segmental scale with no app, for anyone who prefers to keep their readings off their phone.

FAQs
What's the best smart scale in the UK?
For most households, the Withings Body Smart. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a colour screen, recognises up to eight people and syncs with Apple Health and Google Fit. Garmin users should choose the Index S2, and the Renpho Elis 1 is the best budget option.
Are body fat readings on smart scales accurate?
They're estimates. Smart scales use bioelectrical impedance, which is affected by hydration, time of day and recent exercise, and different brands can give different numbers. They're most useful for tracking a trend on the same scale over time.
Which smart scale works with Fitbit?
Fitbit's own Aria Air wasn't available to buy on Amazon.co.uk when I checked. The eufy P2 Pro and Renpho Elis 1 both sync to a Fitbit account.
Which smart scale works with Apple Health?
Withings, eufy and Renpho scales all sync with Apple Health.
Can more than one person use a smart scale?
Yes. The Withings Body Smart recognises up to eight people, the Garmin Index S2 up to 16, and the eufy and Renpho apps support unlimited users.
Have you tested these scales?
No. This guide is based on manufacturers' specifications and manuals, retailer listings and independent advice. I don't own or test the products. See how we research.
Do you get commission?
Yes. If you buy through links on this page, Amazon may pay me a small commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't affect which scales are included. See the affiliate disclosure.
