How we chose: I compared pizza ovens sold by Amazon or by the maker and in stock on 26 October 2026, using the makers' published specs for fuel, pizza size, temperature and warranty, and the Guardian's 2026 pizza oven tests and owner reviews for how they cook. I haven't used these ovens myself. Where Amazon and the maker give different weights, I've left the weight out. These products have not been tested hands-on; this is a research-based roundup. How the research works.
A pizza oven cooks at 400 to 500°C, far hotter than a kitchen oven, which is what gives a crisp, blistered base in a minute or two. The big decision is fuel: gas is easiest and most consistent, wood or charcoal gives smoky flavour but takes more practice, and electric ovens need no gas bottle and run cooler but are simpler to control.
Also think about size. A 12in oven is plenty for most households; a 14in or larger oven gives more room to turn a pizza. Most outdoor ovens weigh 10 to 20kg, so check you have a sturdy, heat-proof table and somewhere dry to store it.

Who this guide is for: Anyone with a garden, patio or balcony who wants proper pizza at home, plus one indoor electric oven for people without outdoor space. Outdoor ovens must never be used indoors or in a garage.
Black Friday tip: Pizza ovens are popular Black Friday deals and Christmas presents. Ooni and Ninja both run their own sales, so compare their sites with Amazon. Remember to budget for a gas bottle, peel and cover.

Gas is the easiest: turn a dial and it's hot in 15 to 20 minutes. Wood and charcoal give the most flavour but need practice to keep the temperature steady. Electric ovens are simplest of all and need no gas bottle, but most top out at around 370°C outdoors, so pizzas take a couple of minutes rather than one.
Use outdoor ovens outdoors only, on a stable, heat-proof surface, away from fences, sheds and overhanging branches. The outside gets very hot, so keep children and pets away, and let the oven cool fully before covering it.
A pizza peel, an infrared thermometer for checking the stone, and a cover for storage. Gas ovens need a propane bottle and, usually, the regulator supplied. Ooni and SharkNinja sell accessories on their own sites.
Ooni extends its one-year warranty by five years on gas and wood ovens (three years on the Volt) if you register within 60 days. Ninja's two-year guarantee also needs registration. It takes a few minutes and is worth doing.
