Small kitchen storage ideas: 10 space-saving Joseph Joseph organisers
When a kitchen is short on cupboards, the answer usually isn't more storage but better use of the space you have: drawers that hold twice as much, shelves that work underneath as well as on top, and bowls, utensils and containers that nest. Here are 10 organisers from Joseph Joseph, a British brand that designs many of its products to save space, with links to Amazon.co.uk and to Joseph Joseph's own shop.

How we chose: We went through Joseph Joseph's UK storage, organisation and food-prep range and chose products that solve the most common small-kitchen problems: overflowing drawers, crowded cupboards, cluttered sinks and limited floor space. On 21 October 2026 we checked that each product page on josephjoseph.com was live, and matched it to its Amazon.co.uk listing using the product barcode, checking the seller and that there was an add-to-cart button (with a UK delivery postcode). Where the Amazon listing wasn't available to buy, we link to Joseph Joseph only. We read the makers' specs and looked for recurring themes in Amazon.co.uk owner feedback. Prices change often and can differ between the two shops, so check both. We have not personally tested these products; this is a research-based roundup. Our research process.
Small kitchens tend to fail in the same places. The cutlery drawer overflows, utensils fight for space in a pot, mixing bowls and plastic tubs topple out of the cupboard, and the sink disappears under bottles and sponges. You rarely need new units. You need storage that fits the space you've got, and things that stack or nest inside each other.
We've focused on Joseph Joseph because its storage range is designed around exactly this problem, and the pieces are widely sold in the UK. Nine of the ten picks have a link to Amazon.co.uk (the gold button) plus a second link to the same product in Joseph Joseph's own shop. The Nest Utensils Plus wasn't available to buy on Amazon when we checked, so it links to Joseph Joseph only. Start with the area that annoys you most. One good drawer organiser or an under-sink caddy makes a bigger difference than a whole basket of gadgets.
Who this guide is for: Anyone with a small or galley kitchen, a rented flat where you can't add cupboards or drill into walls, a first home or student kitchen, or a family kitchen where the drawers have got out of hand. Several picks also make practical presents for a keen cook (see our gifts for cooks).
Black Friday tip: Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026, and Amazon UK has opened its Black Friday Week sale about a week earlier in recent years. Before you buy, check the product’s price history: our Black Friday home buying guide explains how to spot a genuine deal and which picks to watch.

The picks in detail
Joseph Joseph Blox 10-piece drawer organiser set, grey
Best for: Odd-sized drawers full of gadgets, utensils, foil, batteries and bits
- Where it goes
- Any drawer
- Size or capacity
- 10 trays in different sizes, about 5cm deep
- Good to know
- Trays clip together on all sides
Ten trays in different sizes that clip together on every side, so you can build a layout that fits your drawer and the things you keep in it. Joseph Joseph suggests it for cutlery, utensils, stationery, tools and craft bits, and you can join several sets for a big drawer. It comes with self-adhesive non-slip feet so it doesn't slide when the drawer opens. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
Owners say it's easy to put together and fits their drawers well, and they like being able to arrange the trays however they want. Several say it turned a chaotic drawer into an organised one. Measure the inside of the drawer first, and remember that trays at the back are harder to reach in a deep drawer. A smaller 7-piece set is also available.
What owners and reviewers like
- Fits drawers of almost any shape
- Trays clip together so they don't shift
- Works beyond the kitchen too
Watch-outs
- Plastic, not bamboo
- Plan your layout before you stick the feet on

Joseph Joseph DrawerStore expandable cutlery tray, grey
Best for: Cutlery drawers where a standard tray leaves gaps at the sides
- Where it goes
- Cutlery drawer
- Size or capacity
- Expands from 29cm to 48cm wide; 38cm deep, 5.3cm high
- Good to know
- Movable dish for small items
A cutlery tray in two halves that slide apart to fit drawers from 29cm to 48cm wide and then lock in place. The extra width becomes a long compartment for larger utensils, and a movable dish holds small loose items such as bottle stoppers or measuring spoons. The compartments are deep-sided, so cutlery doesn't spill over when the drawer slams. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
Owners say it's good quality and like that it adjusts to different drawer widths. It needs a drawer at least 38cm deep from front to back, so measure the inside of the drawer, not the front. If your drawer is narrower, Joseph Joseph's fixed-size DrawerStore organisers are an alternative.
What owners and reviewers like
- Adjusts to fit the drawer width
- Deep compartments
- Extra space for larger tools
Watch-outs
- Needs a drawer at least 38cm deep
- Fewer owner reviews than the others

Joseph Joseph Nest Utensils Plus 5-piece utensil set with stand, multicolour
Best for: Clearing a crammed utensil pot off a small worktop
- Where it goes
- Worktop
- Size or capacity
- 5 utensils that nest on one stand
- Good to know
- Joseph Joseph only (not available on Amazon when we checked)
Five everyday utensils (slotted turner, spaghetti server, slotted spoon, solid spoon and ladle) that sit inside each other on a slim stand, held together by magnets in the handles. Joseph Joseph says the heads are heat-resistant to 200°C. Instead of a jar of mismatched spoons you get one neat column on the worktop, and you can see which one you need.
On Amazon.co.uk owners like the look, the space saving and the bright colours, though some feel it's pricey for five utensils. The Amazon listing had no add-to-cart button when we checked on 21 October 2026, so we link to Joseph Joseph only.
What owners and reviewers like
- Takes up very little worktop space
- Magnets keep the set together
- Heat-resistant heads
Watch-outs
- Only five utensils
- Not available on Amazon when we checked

Joseph Joseph Nest 9 Plus 9-piece nesting bowl set, multicolour
Best for: Bakers and cooks who've run out of cupboard space for bowls
- Where it goes
- One cupboard spot
- Size or capacity
- 4.5L and 0.5L bowls, 3L colander, 1.65L sieve, 5 measuring cups
- Good to know
- Dishwasher safe; not microwave safe
Two mixing bowls, a colander, a stainless-steel mesh sieve and five measuring cups that all stack into one compact tower. The big bowl has a non-slip base and wide handles, and the small one has ml and fl oz markings inside and a pouring spout. Amazon lists it as about 29cm across and 15cm tall when nested.
Owners like the modern look and say the space-saving design is ideal for kitchens with limited room, and some say the colours help them find the right piece quickly. On Amazon it was sold by a third-party seller (RoMo UK) when we checked, so check the delivery date and returns, or buy direct from Joseph Joseph.
What owners and reviewers like
- Nine pieces in one cupboard space
- Non-slip base on the big bowl
- Measuring cups included
Watch-outs
- Not for the microwave
- Sold by a third-party seller on Amazon

Joseph Joseph Nest Lock 5-piece food storage container set, multicolour
Best for: Batch cooks and anyone with a cupboard of mismatched tubs and lids
- Where it goes
- Cupboard, fridge and freezer
- Size or capacity
- 230ml, 540ml, 1.1L, 1.85L and 3L
- Good to know
- Freezer, microwave (reheating) and top-rack dishwasher safe
Five food containers from a 230ml snack pot to a 3-litre tub, with clip-down lids that Joseph Joseph says are airtight and leakproof. Empty, the boxes nest inside each other and the lids clip together, so the whole set takes up about as much room as the largest box. Colour-coded bases make it easy to match each lid to its box. They go in the freezer and the top rack of the dishwasher, and in the microwave for reheating. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
Owners say they're robust and good quality, and they particularly like the colour-coded lids, the stacking and the space saving. Batch cooking works best with containers in the sizes you actually use, so check the five sizes against your usual portions.
What owners and reviewers like
- Nests into the space of one box
- Lids clip together, so none go missing
- Freezer and microwave safe
Watch-outs
- Microwave for reheating only
- Five sizes may not suit every batch

Joseph Joseph CupboardStore under-shelf spice rack
Best for: Cupboards with wasted height between shelves
- Where it goes
- Under a cupboard shelf
- Size or capacity
- Holds up to 7 spice jars; 32cm wide
- Good to know
- No drilling: fixes with adhesive tape
A pull-out tray that fixes to the underside of a cupboard shelf with strong adhesive tape, so it uses the gap above whatever sits on the shelf below. It holds up to seven standard spice jars (not included). Joseph Joseph says it fits shelves over 32cm wide and up to 2cm thick, and it's made from at least 50% recycled plastic. No tools are needed, which helps if you rent. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
It's a newer product, so there are far fewer owner reviews than for the others here. Measure the shelf thickness and the gap above the items on the shelf below before you buy. There's also a larger version for 14 jars.
What owners and reviewers like
- Uses space you're not using
- No drilling
- Recycled plastic
Watch-outs
- Shelf must be 32cm+ wide and no more than 2cm thick
- Newer product, few reviews so far

Joseph Joseph CupboardStore easy-access wheeled storage caddy
Best for: The jumble of sprays and bottles under the sink
- Where it goes
- Under the sink or a deep cupboard
- Size or capacity
- About 46cm long, 11cm wide, 17cm high
- Good to know
- Rolls out on wheels
A long, narrow caddy on wheels with a big compartment for bottles and sprays and a smaller front section for sponges and cloths. You pull it out by the front lip like a drawer, so things at the back of the cupboard stop getting lost. Because it's slim, you can often fit it beside the pipes. It's made from at least 50% recycled plastic. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
It's a newer product with relatively few reviews. Owners find it useful, but opinions are mixed on how sturdy it is and some found it too long for their cupboard, so measure the depth beside your pipes first.
What owners and reviewers like
- Wheels out like a drawer
- Slim enough to fit beside pipes
- Recycled plastic
Watch-outs
- Check it fits your cupboard depth
- Mixed views on sturdiness

Joseph Joseph Caddy sink organiser, grey
Best for: Keeping washing-up liquid, a brush, sponges and a cloth in one small spot
- Where it goes
- Beside the sink
- Size or capacity
- About 21 × 13 × 11.5cm
- Good to know
- Comes apart; dishwasher safe
A compact sink organiser with a main compartment for washing-up liquid and a brush, a sponge plate, and a rail at the front for hanging a damp cloth. Water drains into a hidden reservoir rather than pooling on the worktop, and the unit comes apart so you can clean it or put it in the dishwasher. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
With thousands of reviews, owners say it's unobtrusive and keeps the sink area tidy without taking up much room, and that it's easy to take apart and clean. Some say it's smaller than they expected and doesn't take larger washing-up liquid bottles, so check the size against the bottle you buy.
What owners and reviewers like
- Small footprint
- Hidden drip reservoir
- Comes apart for cleaning
Watch-outs
- Large bottles may not fit
- Reservoir needs emptying

Joseph Joseph Extend expandable dish drainer, grey
Best for: Small worktops where a dish rack only needs to be big after a roast
- Where it goes
- Beside the sink
- Size or capacity
- Extends to almost twice its size
- Good to know
- Swivel spout drains into the sink
A dish drainer that stays compact day to day and slides out to almost twice its size when you've got a big wash-up. The sloping base channels water to a spout that you can swivel towards the sink, or you can plug it to hold the water and empty it later. Raised ribs stop water collecting under glasses and bowls, the prongs lift out for cleaning, and the cutlery drainer is removable. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
Owners say it's good quality, holds a surprising amount, is easy to clean and stays sturdy. Some feel it's expensive for a dish rack. Check that the spout lines up with your sink on the side where you'll put it.
What owners and reviewers like
- Compact until you need it bigger
- Drains straight into the sink
- Easy to clean
Watch-outs
- Pricier than basic racks
- Spout position needs to suit your sink

Joseph Joseph Totem Compact 40L waste and recycling bin, grey (graphite)
Best for: Kitchens with no room for separate rubbish, recycling and food bins
- Where it goes
- Floor (36.6 × 30cm footprint)
- Size or capacity
- 2 × 20L compartments plus a 3L food caddy
- Good to know
- Carbon odour filter
Three bins in one tall unit: a 20-litre compartment under the lid, a 20-litre pull-out drawer below and a removable 3-litre food waste caddy. Its footprint is only about 37 × 30cm, so it fits in a gap where two bins wouldn't. A replaceable carbon filter helps with smells, and the buckets have holes to hold liners in place and hooks for carrier bags. Amazon calls the colour graphite and Joseph Joseph calls it grey, but the barcode is the same. On Amazon it's sold by Amazon.
Owners say it's good quality and looks smart, and several say the size suits a two-person household. Two 20-litre compartments fill faster than one big bin, so larger families may prefer the 60-litre Totem Max. Most councils collect several types of recycling, so check what yours takes before you decide how to split the compartments.
What owners and reviewers like
- Rubbish, recycling and food waste in one footprint
- Odour filter
- Removable buckets
Watch-outs
- The priciest pick here
- 20L compartments fill quickly for bigger families

Start with the space you use most

Don't try to organise the whole kitchen at once. Start with the drawer you open 20 times a day, usually cutlery and utensils, then the cupboard where things fall out when you open the door. Empty it, get rid of duplicates and things you haven't used in a year, and only then buy something to organise what's left. Storage products work best when they're bought for a specific drawer or shelf, not in the hope that they'll create order on their own.
Keep the things you use daily between hip and shoulder height and near where you use them: spices and oils near the hob, mugs near the kettle, washing-up kit by the sink. Things you use a few times a year, such as the roasting tin and the big casserole, can go up high or at the back.
Measure before you buy
Size is the most common complaint in owner reviews of the picks here. Measure the inside of drawers (width, front-to-back depth and height), not the front. For under-shelf racks, check the shelf's width and thickness and the gap above what's stored on the shelf below. Under the sink, measure around the pipes and the waste trap, not just the cupboard opening. For a bin, measure the floor gap and check there's room above for the lid to open.
Use the space you're not using

In most cupboards there's a gap above what's on each shelf. Under-shelf racks and drawers turn that gap into storage without drilling. Nesting sets (bowls, containers, utensils) cut the space a collection takes up to roughly the size of its biggest piece. A tall, narrow bin with several compartments uses height instead of floor space. If you rent, choose pieces that are freestanding or fixed with removable adhesive, and check your tenancy agreement before you drill or stick anything.
Food storage and meal prep
Containers that nest and have lids that clip together solve the classic problem of a cupboard full of tubs and no matching lids. For batch cooking, the Food Standards Agency says to cool leftovers and put them in the fridge or freezer within one to two hours, and to eat leftovers from the fridge within two days or freeze them. Splitting food into smaller containers helps it cool faster. Labelling frozen portions with what's inside and the date makes it easier to use them in time.
Amazon or Joseph Joseph?
We link to both shops so you can choose. Prices change often, and either shop may be cheaper on a given day, especially around Black Friday. Joseph Joseph's own shop sometimes has colours that aren't on Amazon, while Amazon may have faster delivery if you're a Prime member. Check the seller, delivery date and returns policy before you buy. Not every Amazon listing is sold by Amazon, and the Nest 9 Plus was sold by a third-party seller when we checked.

FAQs
How can I make a small kitchen feel bigger?
Clear the worktops first. Move everyday items into drawers and cupboards with organisers, use the space under shelves, and choose nesting or stacking sets. A compact dish rack and a slim sink tidy free up surprising amounts of worktop.
What's the best kitchen drawer organiser?
For a standard cutlery drawer, an expandable tray like the Joseph Joseph DrawerStore fits drawers from 29cm to 48cm wide. For odd-sized drawers full of gadgets, a modular set such as Blox lets you build your own layout.
Are Joseph Joseph organisers worth it?
They cost more than basic plastic organisers. You're paying for designs that nest, expand or fit awkward spaces, and they have lots of positive owner reviews on Amazon.co.uk. If you only need a simple divider, a cheaper one will do the job.
Can I use these in a rented kitchen?
Yes. All the picks are freestanding or fixed with adhesive tape (the under-shelf spice rack), so there's no drilling. Check your tenancy agreement before sticking anything to cupboards.
Are Nest Lock containers microwave safe?
Joseph Joseph says they're microwave safe for reheating, freezer safe and top-rack dishwasher safe.
Why are all the picks from Joseph Joseph?
This guide focuses on one brand because its storage range is designed to save space and many pieces work together. Other good organisers are available. We may earn a commission from both Amazon and Joseph Joseph. The rates differ, but they don't decide which products we include.
Do you get commission?
Yes. If you buy through our links, Amazon or Joseph Joseph (through the Awin affiliate network) may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't affect which products we include. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
